Kyla and Brady Larson are raising their kids and a herd of cattle alongside Brady's parents, Becky and Dan. At Larson Angus Ranch, located in Sharon Springs in western Kansas, they focus on raising beef cattle with top-end genetics to produce high-quality, delicious meat. They started raising registered cattle in 1998 and today their herd includes Angus and Charolais breeds. In 2022, they won the Certified Angus Beef Seedstock Commitment to Excellence award. They also farm and are involved in the dairy industry.

Kyla shared was she loves about ranching and how her family got started.

Why are you passionate about agriculture?

Our passion for agriculture was ingrained in us from young ages because we were blessed to grow up in production agriculture. Food, fiber and fuel are essential to everyone and we want to raise a healthy, nutritious beef product for our family and many others.

What's your favorite part of working livestock?

The seasons are all very important in agriculture, however, calving season when raising beef is definitely a favorite. It's special to watch mama cows give birth and care for their new calves.

What brought you to your ranch?

Brady and I were both raised in agriculture. We each were able to follow our passion in college and come back to western Kansas to work alongside our families. When we got married we were able to start building our own cow herd and family. By following opportunity and putting in the work, we both get to do what we love.
